I love to sew. I try and sew every day even if it is just for a few minutes. I find it challenging to find time during the Holidays to sit and work on a project. I’m not complaining. I enjoy the Holidays very much BUT my sewing fingers get itchy if they don’t touch fabric or a sewing machine for a few days.
A skirt was just what I needed to fill my need for sewing. I’ve had this medium-weight wool from Fabric Mart in my stash for a couple of years. It was just enough for a short skirt.
I chose Simplicity 1321. I made View A and omitted the pockets. I also lengthened the skirt by 1″. I lined the skirt by simply cutting the front and back pieces in the lining fabric. I sewed the lining to the waist prior to sewing the facings.
I originally bought this pattern to make this view in denim. I still plan on doing that. I think the details of this particular view will lend themselves well for a denim skirt. Stay tuned for that project.
Here’s a close-up of the skirt:
I’m happy with this skirt. It was a quick sew and turned out the way I had envisioned it. That’s always a good thing.
This will be my last blog post for 2015 or my first for 2016. It depends on if you go by the date stamp on my blog or the actual time that I posted this. I appreciate you taking the time to check in and read up on my latest project. I wish you all a happy and healthy 2016!
I just love a basic wool pencil skirt, especially one with seams in the front. The drop of the waist on this one is especially flattering. Gorgeous color pick!!
Thank you Cindy!
Great fit on this skirt, Lucy. I’m like you — fingers start twitching when I can’t sew everyday!
Thanks Cissie!
